The Anglican Way

The Anglican Way is how we walk out our orthodoxy as followers of Jesus. Anglicanism is merely a way of being Christian. Think of us as a branch on the family tree of Christianity.

Our Lineage

We have a family history dating back to the ancient church in Britain that took root in the first centuries after the death and resurrection of Jesus. We were the Catholic Church in Britain until the Protestant Reformation. Today we are reformed catholic Christians living in almost every country on earth. Anglicans treasure our continuity with the historic church through the ages, and we cherish our tangible communion with other Christians around the world today.

Anglicans have beautiful and peculiar family traditions that have developed over the years. We have quirks, strengths, and weaknesses. But the most important thing about us as a family is that we are rooted in the same Gospel as all Christians, the root of Jesus Christ himself.

As an Anglican congregation, Church of the Redeemer is part of a worldwide family of more than 80 million brothers and sisters bound together by our shared history and shared forms of prayer, practice, and belief. Like any family, Anglicans express our identity in a whole host of ways, but who we are has historically been reflected most concisely and holistically in the Book of Common Prayer.
